America’s federalism could be the saving grace here. There is no pardon of a Georgia conviction on RICO charges, not from a President and not even from the state Governor. The only pardon possibility is from a board, and that is not allowed until 5 years have been already served on a sentence. And the sentence is 5 years mandatory minimum. Now there could still be a constitutional crisis if he is sentenced in Georgia and then is appealing and then is re-elected to the presidency; how does one jail a sitting President on state charges? Presumably the Supreme Court could delay the serving of the sentence. However if he is convicted on these charges then lawsuits in various states could prevent him from even being on the 2024 ballot, since he was effectively involved in, indeed incited, insurrection. 64% of polled American voters are now saying they won’t vote for him, it’s just the majority of the totally brainwashed majority of Republicans who are in denial about having been suckered by a conman and dicktator wannabe.
