This is absurd. I'm 72, grew up in the Deep South under segregation, I've lived in eight states in 5 or 6 different regions. The problems we have are less than in the Civil War and less than in the Great Depression / WW2 which we came through. The social turmoil in the 60s was substantial. Biden is holding things together very well, considering. Now the Sedition organizers must be sent to prison.

I do agree in 2024 that more electoral attention needs to be paid to states like AZ, NV.

I also can imagine further decentralization and some eventual breakaway but certainly not this decade.

California plus Washington and Oregon would currently be the #4th largest economy in the world and would have 6 of the world's most valuable companies. Of course Hawaii and probably Alaska would go with them. States wouldn't split, in practice, they would choose one or the other.

Cutting Florida loose is not such a bad idea.
